Invitational
The international art fair for contemporary artists working within progressive studios.
Open Invitational is the first and only international art fair dedicated exclusively to artists working within progressive studios.
Progressive studios bring their artists and their work. Open Invitational provides the platform, infrastructure, and institutional framework that connects the work to collectors, curators, museums, and the broader contemporary art world.
Participation is free for all studios. Admission is free for the public.

of a kind
Studios bring the artists.
Open Invitational builds the platform.
Open Invitational is not a traditional gallery fair and it is not externally curated.
Progressive studios from across the United States present their own artists and select the work they believe should be seen. The fair is built around that expertise.
Open Invitational provides the venue, infrastructure, public platform, and connection to collectors, curators, museums, and cultural institutions.
The result is a fair centered on artists and studios rather than the market structures that have historically excluded them.
Where We Convene
The center of the contemporary art market.
Open Invitational New York brings the work directly into conversation with collectors, curators, institutions, and the broader cultural landscape that shapes contemporary art.
Where the fair began.
Open Invitational Miami launched during Art Basel in December 2024, positioning contemporary artists working within progressive studios within one of the most internationally visible weeks in contemporary art.
The international stage.
Open Invitational Basel expands the conversation globally — bringing the work into direct dialogue with the international art world during Art Basel Switzerland.
How the Fair Works
Progressive studios across the United States apply to participate. Participation is free. Studios select their own artists and choose the works they wish to exhibit — without external gatekeeping or imposed curatorial control.
→Studios present exhibitions at the fair within a program that is free and open to the public. Open Invitational provides the venue, infrastructure, programming, and institutional framework that supports the fair.
→Works exhibited at the fair may enter the broader Open Universe ecosystem — expanding institutional visibility, long-term circulation, and future opportunities for participating artists.
Two Distinct Roles
Progressive studios understand their artists and communities more deeply than any outside institution can.
They determine which artists participate, which works are exhibited, and how the work is presented.
Open Invitational is built around that expertise.
Open Universe provides what many studios cannot build independently: a national platform, institutional visibility, collector and curator networks, and a long-term framework that extends beyond the duration of the fair itself.
Open Invitational functions as an acquisition and discovery platform within the broader Open Universe ecosystem. Works introduced through the fair may continue into exhibition circulation, institutional partnerships, and future collection placements across the distributed museum network.
